Le Somail : This port of call on the canal is simply picturesque. The old bridge and its surroundings have been carefully preserved to maintain the ambience of yesteryear. Surrounded by the lush green surroundings and shaded by the trees, one can stroll timelessly alongside the calm waterways, a great spot to cool off on a hot summers day.
Despite its serenity Le Somail is a vibrant place. It’s a meeting place for tourists and locals. There are a few restaurants and hotels, a port for pleasure cruises and a selection of boats to rent, and the village boasts one of the largest repositories of second hand and antique books in Europe.
