The vineyard of the Minervois is one of the most important of the large family of AOCs from the Languedoc, near the Corbières to the south, Saint Chinian to the east, and Cabardès to the west, straddling the Aude and the Hérault. From the gateways of Carcassonne to those of Narbonne, nestled into the foothills of the Black Mountain to the north, it forms a vast amphitheatre facing due south, delimited by the Canal du Midi (a UNESCO world heritage site) and the River Aude.
